About this treatment

Hair loss affects the majority of men by age 50, and many women as well. Finasteride reduces DHT, the hormone responsible for follicle miniaturization in androgenetic alopecia. Minoxidil directly stimulates hair follicle growth. Combining them topically delivers both actives to the scalp with lower systemic absorption than oral finasteride.

Common questions

How long until I see results?

Hair regrowth is slow. Most patients see reduced shedding within 2–3 months and visible regrowth at 6–12 months. The earlier you start, the better the outcome — it is easier to maintain existing hair than to regrow lost hair.

What are the sexual side effects of finasteride?

Oral finasteride carries a risk of sexual side effects in approximately 2–4% of users. Topical finasteride at lower doses has a much lower rate of systemic absorption and correspondingly lower risk. Your physician will review your history.

Can women use this?

Minoxidil is approved for women with androgenetic alopecia. Finasteride is not recommended for premenopausal women (particularly those who could become pregnant) due to risk of fetal harm. Your physician will determine the appropriate formulation.

What happens if I stop?

Hair regained while on treatment will typically be lost within 6–12 months of stopping. Treatment is ongoing maintenance, not a cure.
